Performance ticket sales provide less than 50% of the revenue needed to support State Street Ballet’s annual operations. The rest comes from touring productions, educational programs, foundation grants, and individual donations. A substantial portion of those individual donations are raised at the annual gala — a private event that gives attendees special access to the company’s leaders and one another.
The event invitation, preceded by a save-the-date card, builds anticipation for a very exclusive soirée. The color scheme and theme are incorporated into the interior design of the venue, as well as all signage, and printed and digital marketing pieces; so the creative requires buy-in from many stakeholders, including the board of directors, who are also participants and donors.
